Hay Street in Tomas Boda
Hay Street in Tomas Boda
Tomas Boda dates back to the mid 1600s. At most, it was the site some fifteen buildings, including four houses: Rustorpet, Wägertorpet (Donald Jansa-croft), Kilsbergsstugan and a small exception cabin. Today all the buildings except Kilsbergsstugan demolished. Rustorpet
was closed as recently as 1959.

Since 1928 the association has Kilsbergsstugan pushed the house as a shelter and a café during the winter holidays. The association has also made a great contribution by keeping land open and available to the public. Around Tomas Boda, the association has created a cultural trail, marked with blue paint on poles. When Tomas Boda's drinking water source, beautifully situated shelters, fire rings and dry toilet. From Kilsbergsstugan has extensive views over the lake and Tysslingen Närkeslätten.

Down again

After Tomas Boda, the trail down the fine old spruce forest to the lake Big Dam Lake. For several centuries the lake has been very important as a water reservoir for the operation of the foundry at Blacksta foundry and blast furnace use in Frösvidal. Since water regulation has ceased dam at the outlet partially due and lake is drained now daylight through leaks in the dam embankment, which is why the water level in the lake is nearly two feet lower than before.
The Big Pond Lake fishing is prohibited except for the members of Örebro amateur fishing club. At Dammsjön are several fireplaces and a couple of good places for swimming.

Shortly after the trail leaves the Big Pond Lake is a 500 meter long looping up to the remains of the old ancient castle on Skansberget. Adjacent to Kilsbergen steep östsluttning is a total a dozen ancient forts. These castles were built during the Migration Period around 400 to 600 years after Christ, and were probably used as protected havens for the district's population during times of calamity.

trail then a piece on a forest road before it goes back into the woods. On this route passes the entrances to the nature reserves Middle Trolldalen and Vargkitteln. Kilsbergen three control valleys comprise fissure cutting into perpendicular Kilsbergen eastern fault steep. From the trail is a marked path 300 meters to the reserve. In the deep nerskurna fissure has an interesting moss, lichen and fungal flora developed because of the high humidity.Particularly worth seeing is 7 meters wide and the rock wall insvarvade isälvsbildning called Magic Pot. A circular trail is around the reserve.
Even in the nature reserve Vargkitteln is a circular trail, whose highlight is the beautiful waterfall found in the reserve. The forest in the area is virgin forest seasonal and both reserves are well worth a visit. There are plenty of grouse. The boreal owl and pygmy owl thrives in the area.

Nice view

Again, the trail uphill Kilsbergskanten and onto Lövnäsvägen Mount. From Lövnäsvägen mountain's highest point has been one of the finest prospects Kilsbergen with swan lake Tysslingen in the foreground and the whole Närkeslätten in the background. Among other visible askberget Kvarntorpshögen, where today an art exhibition held every summer.
From Lövnäsvägen rock then goes Bergslagsleden into a forested with mixed forest, mostly older little damp forest. In the bottom of the South Trolldalen runs Gårdsjö Pelvis forward. Where the trail crosses the valley is not particularly impressive, but well further down that farther up is mighty steep slopes. Especially up against Big Gårdsjön gives the valley a wild impression with steep slopes on which the winter usually formed powerful svallisformationer.

Göljekatastrofen

Snowmelt in spring 1951 was unusually strong. The winter had been snowy and the snow was still long. But at the end of April came in warm air that started a snowmelt that was record-breaking. They dammed lakes in Kilsbergen was quickly filled and the night between 2 and 3 May burst dam in Lake Göljån. A powerful tsunami swept down Kilsbergskanten and tore away everything in its path. In a few hours the lake's water level was lowered by nearly three feet. The devastation was great. Among other things, destroyed Orebro Velociped Club's newly built cottage, which stood downstream Göljebäcken. Klubbstugan stood with the long side facing the onrushing forces of nature.
Luckily no one got hurt. The broken dam can be seen in the southern part of the lake, where the trail passes. One can also imagine that the forest near the lake are under the forest standing on land over three meters in the lake's water level was lowered by.

Göljån At the lake's stage, picnic area with shelter, fire and dry toilet. The lake fishing is prohibited except for members of the fishing club nymph.

Göljån After taking the trail in a piece on a forest road to a cottage ruin and the former arable land to the cottage Lövåsen. At the ruin enlightens a forest man the memory of signs that the cottage was closed as late as in 1953. The overgrowth of arable land, however, had probably begun earlier and now the forest has regained all the land.

So that the water would be able to provide power, several nearby lakes and swamps were dammed and regulated.

7. Skogatorpet

Kilsbergen Magic Valleys

Kilsbergskanten is a fault escarpment that formed 250 million years ago, during the geological era called perm. In the context of mountain building in southern Europe occurred even in our region stresses in the crust, resulting in cracks.

Fault cliff formed by the ground on each side of the crack shifted vertically so that a kind of steps occurred. Perpendicular to the big Kilsbergsförkastningen are several ravines, of which the Northern Trolldalen is one of the most powerful, with height differences in the slopes of close to 100 meters. The cracking occurred already when Kilsbergen was formed, but it was only during the last ice age, about 10,000 years ago, as North Trolldalen got its dramatic and unique shapes.

When the ice began to melt formed a large lake in Kilsbergen. The water continued to the sea through the valley, where the rushing water masses cut rock and boulders on its way. The fines, sand and clay, were brought out into the sea and settled on the ocean floor that would later become the fertile Närkeslätten.

The small stream that flows into the valley bottom has been very important to the area's iron industry. It has been the source of power for both a small forest hut, Klockar foundry, which uses a blast furnace and a bar hammer in Klockhammar. In order to make the water last longer, several lakes and marshes upstream been settled.
